With the end of the year fast approaching, I would like to take this opportunity to express my best wishes to you for the holiday season.
As we all know, 2021 has been another challenging year, with variants surfacing, and countries all around the world experiencing some form of lockdown affecting supply, including in Southeast Asia. At Andaman Medical, we have been fortunate enough to offer homeworking for our colleagues when required, experiencing minimal impact on our day-to-day business.
So what did 2021 mean for Andaman Medical? We have strengthened our teams in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in response to the increased interest we have witnessed in medical device registrations throughout the region.
The start of the year brought a fresh new look to Andaman Medical and later in the year we were also fortunate to attend exhibitions such as Medica 2021 to be able to meet clients and partners in person for the first time since 2019.
The region has also experienced major regulatory changes such as new registration rules in Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam which we continue to share with you via our website, social media platforms and newsletters.
Looking ahead to 2022, we are committed to continue delivering high quality regulatory services for medical device businesses worldwide as we look forward to another year of growth and consolidation of our position as a leader for medical device & IVD regulatory affairs in ASEAN. We expect the medical device and & IVD markets to continue to experience increasing demand in Southeast Asia as the IMF has forecast growth of 5.5% for Southeast Asia, above the global average of 4.9%, with countries such as Vietnam (6.6%), the Philippines (6.3%), Malaysia (6%) and Indonesia (5.9%) all tipped to experience robust expansion.
