Andaman Medical Returns to CMEF Shanghai 2026: Supporting MedTech Companies Expanding into Southeast Asia

As more MedTech manufacturers look beyond China and explore Southeast Asia as their next growth market, many are seeking clearer guidance on how to navigate ASEAN regulatory pathways, market access requirements, and local commercial strategies.

With this growing demand in mind, Andaman Medical returned to the 93rd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) in Shanghai from 9–12 April 2026 to connect with manufacturers, distributors, innovators, and industry partners looking to expand into Southeast Asia.

Held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, CMEF brought together the global MedTech community to explore new technologies, exchange industry perspectives, and discuss the future of healthcare innovation. For Andaman Medical, the event was an important opportunity to reconnect with industry partners, meet new companies, and support manufacturers preparing for structured expansion into Southeast Asia.

As more MedTech companies look toward ASEAN for growth, many are seeking practical guidance on regulatory pathways, compliance expectations, market access planning, and local partnership strategies. Throughout the exhibition, our team had the opportunity to discuss these priorities directly with companies exploring their next steps in the region.

Connecting with MedTech Manufacturers at CMEF Shanghai

During the event, we welcomed visitors at Booth 5.2J43, located at the SG & MAS Pavilion in Hall 5.

Across the four days, we had many valuable conversations with medical device manufacturers, distributors, and industry partners who are actively exploring opportunities in Southeast Asia. Many of these discussions centred on practical questions: how to understand regulatory requirements, what documentation is needed, how long approvals may take, how to work with the right local partners, and how to build a market entry plan that is realistic from the start.

What stood out to us was how focused these conversations were. Manufacturers are no longer looking at Southeast Asia only as a simple export destination. Many are thinking more seriously about the region as a long-term growth market, where success depends on early planning, strong compliance foundations, the right partnerships, and clear execution.

Sharing Practical Insights at the WeTalk Global Stage

A key highlight of CMEF Shanghai was taking part in the WeTalk Global Stage at CMEF and ICMD, together with Nord Pacific Medical.

We presented “Mastering Southeast Asia’s Medical Device Regulations: Trends, Costs & Winning Strategies”, where we shared practical insights on ASEAN regulatory pathways, compliance readiness, and market access planning.

Our affiliate, Nord Pacific Medical presented “Winning in Southeast Asia: How to Choose the Right Distributor”, focusing on distributor selection, partner strategy, and sustainable commercial growth.

Together, the sessions brought both sides of market entry into focus: the regulatory preparation needed to enter Southeast Asia, and the commercial strategy needed to grow successfully after entry.

During the sessions and follow-up conversations, participants raised practical questions around:

  • Medical device registration pathways across ASEAN
  • Country-specific compliance expectations
  • Documentation and submission planning
  • Local authorized representation and import requirements
  • Distributor selection and partner evaluation
  • Regional commercial execution

Strong Interest in Southeast Asia as a Growth Market

Throughout CMEF Shanghai, our conversations pointed to a clear industry trend: Southeast Asia is becoming a primary growth frontier for many manufacturers.

Discussions around cost structures, regulatory pathways, distributor strategy, and regional partnerships showed that companies are increasingly focused on how to enter ASEAN markets in a practical and sustainable way. For many manufacturers, the question is no longer whether Southeast Asia presents an opportunity, but how to navigate its diverse and fast-moving markets successfully.

This growing interest reflects the need for clear regulatory guidance, early planning, reliable local expertise, and strong commercial partnerships. Each ASEAN market has its own expectations, timelines, and submission requirements, making it important for manufacturers to approach expansion with both regional perspective and country-specific understanding.

Looking Ahead

We would like to extend our appreciation to CMEF and ICMD for organising a successful event and for creating a valuable platform for industry connection, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

We are also grateful to everyone who took the time to meet with us during the exhibition. It was a pleasure speaking with manufacturers, distributors, and partners from across the region and exchanging perspectives on regulatory developments, market access strategies, distributor selection, and the future of MedTech innovation in Southeast Asia.

Special thanks to our teams for representing Andaman Medical  at CMEF Shanghai and contributing to the meaningful conversations throughout the event.
