Indonesia: New Decree concerning the Technical Standards of Short-Range Devices

The Minister of Communications and Informatics signed a New Decree Number 260 of 2024 concerning the Technical Standards of Short-Range Devices (SRD) on 13 May 2024. The regulated SRDs are as follows:

1. Bluetooth IEEE 802.15.1
2. Near Fields Communications (NFC)
3. Radio frequency Identification (RFID)
4. Ultra-wide bands (UWB)
5. Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network IEEE 802.15.4
6. Cordless telephone
7. Wireless Power Transmission (WPT)
8. Intelligent Transport System (ITS)
9. Telecommunications Device and/or Equipment with Transmit Power lower than 10 mW
10. Other SRD.

This regulation updates the Director General of Resources Management and Equipment of Posts and Informatics Decree Number 161 Year 2019. The technical standards applied to telecommunication devices include power supply requirements, non-ionizing radiation requirements, electrical safety requirements, electromagneticcompatibility requirements, operational and technical provisions, radio frequency requirements, test methods, and antenna requirements.

This regulation also provides testing methods, one of which is electrical safety testing. The test is carried out according to the method set forth in SNI IEC 60950-1:206, SNI IEC 62368-1:2014, SNI 04-6253, IEC62368-1, IEC 60950-1, IEC 60065 or relevant IEC standards. This regulation has become effective since 11 August 2024.
