Thailand: Thai FDA Shares Information for Prohibitions and Prohibited Messages in Advertising Medical Devices

On  August 27, 2024, Thailand FDA published an infographic about Medical Device Advertisement on their official Facebook page. 

Here are some examples of “text, images, or advertising” that are “not allowed” in advertising medical devices:

  1. Using words or statements about the benefits, quality, quantity, standards, ingredients, or origin of medical devices in an exaggerated manner, such as:

2. Invite customers to send product labels to enter a lucky draw.

3. Promotional activities involving lucky draws or prizes.

4. Images of people holding, touching, or pointing at a medical device.

5. The thumbs-up sign, a victory sign, an OK sign, a like symbol.

6. Checkmark (except for product warranties).

7. A person who mentions a medical device’s benefits, indications, or advantages.

8. Stating the name and position of a well-known person.

9. Giving rewards through random selection from channels of  SMS, labels, etc., without using the sender’s ability.

10. Images of women dressed immodestly, such as revealing cleavage, nude and nakedness.

11. Promotional activities without specifying the duration, methods, locations, and prices of the gifts.

12. Comparing or incriminating other companies’ products.

13. Do not advertise the benefits of medical devices that can prevent, treat, alleviate, and cure disease.
